Fat Burning in a Bottle
Get Healthy with Green Tea
For thousands of years, green tea has been an integral part of
the Asian diet. It was believed that drinking several cups a day
led to a longer and healthier life. After studying over 3000 women
in Tokyo, scientist discovered that those drinking green tea lived
longer than those that did not.(1)
As research continues, scientists have concluded green tea might
act protectively against heart disease, liver disorders(3),
and works as an antibacterial agent to support the immune system.(4)

Burn Fat with Green Tea
University of Geneva scientist researched the link of polyphenols,
the antioxidant in green tea, to fat burning in humans. 10 healthy
men were given green tea extract, caffeine, or a placebo with
breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The men who ingested the green tea
extract showed a much higher fat oxidation rate than both the
placebo and caffeine. The study concluded that green tea has thermogenic
properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by
its caffeine content alone.(5)

Another Japanese study involved
tow groups of men of similar size (based upon body mass index,
and indicator of fat, and their waist circumferences). Over
a period of 12 weeks, half of the group was given tea fortified
with green tea extract that contained 690 mg of polyphenols,
while the half was given tea with only 22 mg of polyphenols.
Both groups has controlled calorie and fat intake, and at the
end of the study period, waist circumference, body weight, and
body mass index were all significantly lower in the men who
were given the tea containing the green tea extract, with an
average weight loss of 5.3 pounds.(6)
